TAMPA — The University of Tampa’s Alternative Spring Break community service program has become so popular that UT’s student volunteer organization, PEACE (People Exploring Active Community Experiences), has decided to expand the program to six separate trips throughout the year.

DADE CITY — While some students use spring break for recreational activities, members of Saint Leo University’s S.E.R.V.E. program plan to travel to the Honduras to help with housing in poor areas, members of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Dade City learned Thursday, Nov. 6.

TAMPA — For the third year in a row, The University of Tampa John H. Sykes College of Business has been named by “The Princeton Review” as an outstanding business school – and one of the 296 best business schools in the world. “The Princeton Review” features the school in the recently published 2009 edition of “Best Business Schools.”

TAMPA — The University of Tampa will celebrate the construction of the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values at a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 2:30 p.m. on campus.

NEW PORT RICHEY -- Pasco-Hernando Community College will host a symposium “The Psychology and Spirituality of Suffering and Pain” on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at the New Port Richey campus, 10230 Ridge Road. This event will include two lectures and a dialogue session with the audience.

BALTIMORE — Celeste Lipkes of Wesley Chapel, (33543), was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2008 semester of The Johns Hopkins University. To be selected for this honor, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

NEW PORT RICHEY — Pasco-Hernando Community College will hold a dedication ceremony for its new Conference and Instructional Center on Friday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. A reception and guided building tours will follow.

TALLAHASSEE – Governor Charlie Crist and the Florida Prepaid College Board are reminding families during College Savings Month this September that Florida offers easy and affordable ways to save for their children’s college education.

TAMPA – The University of Tampa will offer a free information session on its Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Innovation on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to noon. The session will be held in Room 131 of the John H. Sykes College of Business.
