CARROLLWOOD — Gabriella Falcone is able to walk because of Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa. And for the last three years, she has been helping the hospital help children like her with a golf tournament. This year is no different.

LAND O’ LAKES — The Oakstead community will host a holiday bazaar at the clubhouse to benefit The Tony Semple Foundation For Hope on Dec. 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. The clubhouse is located at 3717 Hillington Place, Land O’ Lakes.

LUTZ — The UPS Store located at 23110 State Road 54 at the Willow Bend Towne Centre in Lutz, in partnership with UPS Store locations nationwide and the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, is giving a long-lasting, life-changing gift to local children this holiday season.

I was singing an annoying rendition of “Here Comes Santa Claus,” as I cheerfully drove toward the new Shops at Wiregrass in Central Pasco. I wanted to be on hand for the gala ribbon cutting of our area’s new Barnes & Noble book store.

LAND O’ LAKES — The Rays won! The Bulls won! The Bucs won! There is much joy in our community, and while sports results certainly can bring temporary joy to our lives, we should see if we can transfer some of that joy into the lives of those who are facing tough times.
