WESLEY CHAPEL – With the challenges of the current economy retailers and individuals are lowering their expectations for Christmas. Many families will be looking for ways to simply their celebrations. Some will have no choice. While certain people feel like this year’s cuts in spending will dampen the Christmas spirit, others suggest that our struggles could be a Christmas gift in disguise.
NEW PORT RICHEY -- Buddhist monks have already begun to create a Sand Mandala at Pasco-Hernando Community College as part of the college’s Peace Week activities. Upon completion, Drupon Thinley Ningpo Rinpoche will offer a teaching on the Sand Mandala from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21 followed by a dissolution of the mandala at 5:30 p.m. PHCC Peace Week runs through Nov. 21 and all activities will be held on the West Campus in New Port Richey at 10230 Ridge Road.
NEW PORT RICHEY -- The Hadassah Book Club will meet on Friday, Dec. 19. “We will be discussing The Children of the Book, by Geraldine Brooks. We will be meeting at noon.
