    Flower of Lutz
Flower is a female Pembroke Welsh Corgi who lives in Lutz. She likes anyone who will give her food. She also likes stuffed animals. But Flower dislikes motorcycles. Her funniest moment: “When she was first visiting my best friend's house she ran straight into her mirrored closet thinking it was another room,” says Sarah Moyer. “Flower only 1 1/2 and is probably the most outgoing dog you will ever meet. She is also the most wonderful best friend and the most caring dog. She loves life, and every time you see her you cannot resist smiling. She has a cat named Chewbacca as a best friend, and will make friends with any animal that she meets.”

  • Frannie the manatee released
Members of Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission gather around Frannie, a young female manatee, before they release her into the Alafia River Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Williams Park boat ramp. According to the zoo, the manatee is nicknamed Frannie after being found near the Howard Frankland Bridge in Pinellas County. The young female was rescued by FWC and brought to the zoo in June after she became entangled in a channel marker and four crab traps. After removal of the lines, she recovered well and is now healthy and conditioned for release. Frannie weighed 525 pounds at the time of her rescue and has grown to 640 pounds at her recent pre-release physical. Check out more photos and buy prints HERE. Staff photo by Keith Carson.
