LUTZ — Ten years ago, the Lutz community could have had its own community high school for Lutz students. Instead, based on the controversial proposed location of the school, and other needs elsewhere, the district built Freedom High in New Tampa. Lutz students were split up between Freedom and Gaither high schools.

ZEPHYRHILLS — Pasco School Board members will be asked Tuesday, Nov. 18, to approve spending $2,948,115 to add an eight-classroom wing to Zephyrhills High School.

WESLEY CHAPEL — Jeremy Baker of Troop 3 in Land O’ Lakes was recently awarded the coveted Eagle Scout rank. The Eagle Scout rank is the highest rank possible in the Boy Scouts of America and is only earned by two out of 100 scouts.

TAMPA — Robles Elementary School teacher Vyrtice Archie-Cross has been selected as a Javits-Frasier Teacher Scholar to work on identifying and educating underserved gifted children. Archie-Cross was one of 15 Javits-Frasier Teacher Scholars selected from around the nation.

TAMPA — Nearly 117,000 Hillsborough students in kindergarten through 12th grade participated in online mock voting, overwhelmingly selecting Barack Obama for president.
