Masaryktown Labor Day Celebration benefits US troops in war zones Aug. 31

MASARYKTOWN — The Masaryktown Labor Day Celebration, a benefit for Lea’s Prayers & Postage for the troops, will take place Sunday, Aug. 31, at 3 p.m., at the Masaryktown Community Center, 539 Lincoln Ave., in Masaryktown.

Entertainment will include George Marshall, the “Saltwater Rockin’ Cowboy;” Brian Chytka; Steffani Renae; Matthew Romeo; Southern Harmony; So Fine; and more. The special guest will be U.S. Rep Ginny Brown-Waite.

Other favors will include Chinese Auctions, 50/50s, food, beverages, and beer (ID required).

Children are free, however, organizers suggest a $5 donation be made to the cause. Lea’s Prayers and Postage is a charity whose mission is to support the postage on packages sent to the military personnel in war zones.

Women of Military Sea Services welcome to join WAVES
on August 24 2008

TAMPA — Attention, all women of the Military Sea Services – Tampa Bay WAVES Unit 55 of WAVES National begins its 21st year of service on Sept. 6, in a new meeting place and on a new schedule.

The Unit will meet at Picadilly Cafeteria, 1025 West Brandon Blvd., Brandon, at 11 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month.

All women who served honorably (including those currently serving) in the U. S. Navy, Navy Nurse Corps, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, or Maritime Service, or related reserve components, are eligible for membership.

Florida College grad David Madrigal graduates from infantry training
on August 24 2008

TEMPLE TERRACE — Army Pfc. David R. Madrigal has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He was a 2000 grad from Tampa Bay Technical High School and received an associate degree in 2002 from Florida College in Temple Terrace.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

He is the son of Ramon Madrigal, of Temple Terrace.

Air Force Airman Jeremiah Nicolai graduates basic training at Lackland
on August 24 2008

TAMPA — Air Force Airman Jeremiah T. Nicolai has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

He is the son of Anthony Hong, of Tampa, and Steven Nicolai, of St. Clair, Minn. Nicolai is a 2007 graduate of St. Clair Public High School.

Air Force Airman Cordale Brivett graduates basic training at Lackland

TEMPLE TERRACE — Air Force Airman Cordale M. Brivett has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He was a 2006 graduate of Armwood High School in Seffner.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Brivett is the son of Bobbie Coleman, of Temple Terrace.
